Air Sealing
Air sealing is exactly what it sounds like - our staff will visit your home and detect any area, crack, or crevice where air may be escaping, or entering your home. Then we’ll seal them with an appropriate insulating substance. Airflow like this is the enemy when it comes to decreasing heating and cooling expenditures, and maintaining a stable temperature in your home. While a little, 1.5 millimeter crack around a window may not sound like a lot, add a bunch of those up and you’re actually losing a substantial amount of heat – and letting chilly air into your home. This makes it hard to maintain a stable, pleasing temperature. Luckily, we can assist.
How can you tell whether you need Air Sealing? It may be as easy as seeing a crack around a window or door frame, an incorrectly installed insulating or weather strip, or literally a hole in your wall. We most regularly encounter concerns around windows, doors, joists and sill plates, pull-down stairs, light fixtures, duct chases, around pipes and wires, near chimneys, between drywall frames, around sump holes, around basement windows, near fans and plumbing openings, and in a number of other areas. You may not be able to see anything, but may feel drafty cold air coming in from outside. Or, we may be able to identify an issue during an energy audit. Regardless, our Air Sealing services will cure the problem.
When you call us, we’ll visit your home and look at any issues you identify for us. Then, we’ll test for air leakage around other spots we usually find it. After we’ve discovered any air leakage sites, we’ll offer you with an insulation plan, and will go to work. Most of our clients have been astonished at home many issues we’ve uncovered in their houses – and you may be too! Once complete, you should expect rooms that are generally frigid in the winter to be warmer, and can expect colder areas throughout the summer. Plus, you may notice a savings in your heating and cooling expenditures.
